Scraper is a personal operating system. Twelve apps and twenty-three services that run the machines in your house, the disks in your drawer, the greenhouse in your garden and the money in your accounts — and print the receipt.
The mechanism
There is no magic here, and that is the point.
Every action in every app becomes one row in one queue, and whichever machine is best placed to do the job picks it up.
In Studio, on your phone, on a train. The app is a web page; it has no idea where the work will happen.
POST /studio/tasks One line in Postgres, marked pending. Nothing has run yet, and the page can be closed.
jobs · status=pending Laptop, Pi, whichever is awake. The database hands the row to exactly one of them — two can never take the same job.
FOR UPDATE SKIP LOCKED The render runs on the laptop that holds the footage; a file copy runs on the machine holding the disk. Nothing round-trips through your browser.
ffmpeg · macbook-pro Result, duration, and where the file landed. And if it never writes back, something is watching for that.
status=done · 41s The part nobody builds
Every status field on earth is written by a run that succeeded. A job that dies before it reports leaves the last good value sitting there, reading fine, forever.
In August the watchdog found a price feed that had been dead for eighty days. Every dashboard was green. Every status said ok. The only evidence was silence — and silence is exactly what nothing else checks.

On the board
The dashboard is thirty-two widgets you can reorder, hide and theme. This one has been reading a greenhouse since early 2026 — two probes, one valve, and a rule that waters when the soil drops below a floor you set.

Twelve front doors
The same login opens twelve installable apps, each on its own subdomain — studio., drive., paper., deck. Add one to your home screen and it opens straight into the thing it does, with no dashboard in the way.

The list
Build notes every other week — what worked, what quietly hadn't worked for eighty days, and what the fleet did while I wasn't looking. When there are keys, this list gets them first.
